Now an expectation at retail, mobile POS (mPOS) devices are expected to increase fourfold globally to 54 million units at a 32 percent compound annual growth rate in 2019 from the current 13 million devices on the market today.1 And the global mPOS terminals market is expected to reach $42.9 billion by 2022, according to Grand View Research.2

Growth is expected, as retailers have found that mPOS delivers valuable line-busting, encourages greater customer-associate interaction, provides add-on sales opportunities and offers a convenient platform for customer relationship management and loyalty programs. Each of these benefits enhances the customer experience and can drive increased sales.

Merchants also are discovering that these handheld devices, with their ease of use and versatility, can mobilize existing workflows, such as back-office operations, thereby providing greater efficiency and cost savings.  In today’s competitive retail environment, with ongoing pressure to drive customers into stores, smart retailers will carefully evaluate all opportunities to improve business.
